Miranda Otto seemed destined for fantasy films.
Even before she was old enough to know anything about acting, or being an actor, it seemed to come naturally.
"The first game I can ever remember as a child playing in the playground was the idea of this door, which was just a brick wall on the side of the building and imagining we could go through it and do all these things," she recalled in an interview with Mamamia.
As she recounts this, everyone listening in this Sydney hotel room — including her co-star, Sophie Wilde, sitting next to her — gasp.

It's prophetic, you see. We are all here to discuss her latest role in Stan Original Film The Portable Door, after all.
The Portable Door is a fantasy adventure, adapted from Tom Holt's best-selling and beloved seven-book fantasy series, centred around Paul Carpenter (Patrick Gibson) and Sophie Petingel (Wilde), lowly interns at mysterious, mystical company J.W. Wells & Co.
Over time, they become steadily more aware that their bosses — including CEO Humphrey Wells (Christoff Waltz), Dennis Tanner (Sam Neill) and Countess Judy (Otto) — are disrupting the world of magic by bringing modern corporate strategy to magical practices.
As the name suggests, this all comes back to a magical door, which, when used correctly, can take you anywhere. But, somehow, it's gone missing.
The Portable Door is the latest in a line of fantasy roles for Otto, whose genre credits include Éowyn in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film series and Zelda Spellman in Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
