How quickly did Kate Middleton's tour dress sell out? VERY QUICKLY.

The Duchess of Cambridge (or, as many still think of her fondly, ‘Kate Middleton’) is a university-educated princess powerhouse, mother to the one of the cutest bubs we’ve ever been obsessed with and also an incredibly stylish lady.

No wonder then, that when she wears a dress – the world wants to wear that dress too. When Kate wears an outfit that’s within the reach of the rest of us mere mortals, it usually sells out within record time. The British press have dubbed it “the Kate Middleton effect”.

So when Kate wore this dress yesterday, you want to guess how long it took for the frock in question to disappear off the racks?

Two hours? Nope, less than that…

Okay, we’ll tell you.

Eight minutes. As in: 8 minutes. Also written as: EIGHT. MINUTES.

The frock is a new season wrap dress from Diane Von Furstenberg, which she paired with cork wedges and simple silver jewellery.

Yesterday was day two of the royal tour, and this weekend sees Kate and Wills (and baby George, of course) continue their time in Sydney. Apparently the couple will be visiting the Royal Easter Show and watching a surf life saving demonstration at Manly Beach.

UPDATE: Royals at the Royal Easter Show.

While we’re on the topic of Duchess of Cambridge frock watch, here’s what Kate is wearing to the Royal Easter Show today. It’s the first Australian designer she has worn since touching down, and is a white lace dress from Sydney sisters Nicole and Simone Zimmerman.

Here’s a few snapshots from the Royal Tour so far…

What's interesting though is that her wedding dress wasn't widely sought, it couldn't have been because 90% of wedding dresses are still strapless. I thought when she got married FINALLY the day of the strapless wedding dress is over, but it was not to be!
I'm not trying to suggest that there aren't many beautiful brides in beautiful strapless dresses because I've seen many a bride look gorgeous in them, but my objection to them is the fact that it's virtually impossible to buy anything else and not every woman suits them or finds them comfortable. I would love to see a variety so that busty girls like me can wear something comfortable or that older women feel elegant in. But it seems not even the magical pull of a princess can vanquish the strapless wedding dress dictatorship!

I don't get the whole "i must have the same dress as the princess!!!!!!!!". Having the same dress as Kate doesn't make you any more like her. It just makes you the crazy person who bought an expensive designer dress because she wore it.

Yeah agreed it's crazy, I buy clothes because they suit me not because a princess wore them, though I guess if I looked like her I may think gee that style/colour would suit me too, so I can understand if it's the latter, but if it's just someone wanting the same dress as a princess wore I think that's a bit pathetic

I think it's more that she has such great taste in clothes that people want to have that same look. Nothing wrong with that .

I didn't think it was about that, cause that is weird. I thought people see it, like in a catalogue, like it and want it. And because so many people see her it's the ultimate advertising. I like the Zimmerman Easter show dress, I wouldn't have otherwise seen it...
