One of the “Blockheads” has been keeping a secret.
Shannon Vos from The Block has been hiding what possibly might be the best kept secret on the series. His “girlfriend” Lisa, is actually his fiancé. Shannon, 35, has been engaged since the day he started on The Block, after proposing to his bride-to-be on the beach the night before.
“I got the news I was going to The Block and I thought, ‘I need to snag this woman before I go off for four months’,” Shannon told Woman’s Day.
Shannon proves he is just a romantic at heart after planning a very elaborate and thoughtful proposal for Lisa.
“I took her out for dinner at a really nice restaurant and had already booked a hotel room where I’d set up a gypsy tea party in the room. I built a little teepee, I got a stylist in, flowers, heaps of candles, fairly lights, music and 20 different rugs and carpets scattered everywhere,” Shannon said.
“There was also champagne, wine, macaroons and I tied the ring in the centre of the room with a piece of string. It took eight hours to set everything up,” Shannon added.
After their romantic dinner, Shannon organised for a friend to call and pretend he was staying in a hotel room, inviting them both to come for a visit.
“So we walked to the hotel and when she walked upstairs to the room and saw the sring, she cried for 20 minutes. I didn’t really know what to do. I said ‘Are they happy tears or sad tears?’ And she said ‘They’re happy tears!’”
Shannon and Lisa have been together for over 15 years, since they were teenagers. Shannon hopes to win The Block so the pair can afford a “love nest” by the beach.
