Scientology, addiction and 30 years in prison: The complex lives of the cast of That '70s Show.

That '70s Show cast members all got their big breaks on the beloved sitcom, which premiered in 1998.

But after the show wrapped in 2006, the cast branched out in very different directions. Well, except for the two co-stars who got married, of course.

From starring on hit Netflix dramas to raising gaggles of kids – and a few serious controversies and tragedies in between – here's where the cast of That '70s Show are now.

Topher Grace

Topher Grace played the central character of smart-aleck teenager Eric Forman on That '70s Show, from season one until season seven. Much to the relief of fans of the series, Grace made a brief guest appearance in the final episode of season eight to round out his character's story.

After leaving That '70s Show, Grace focused on his movie career. He played Venom in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, and starred in Christopher Nolan's hit Interstellar in 2014 and his most recent breakout role was in Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman in 2018.

On a personal level, Grace married actress Ashley Hinshaw in 2016 and the couple welcomed their daughter, Mabel Jane Grace, in November 2017. They had a second child in 2020.

In October 2022, Grace announced he and his wife were expecting a third: "We're excited. My wife, I'll just take this moment on national television to say how beautiful and amazing she is," he said on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Reflecting on his cameo on Netflix's That '90s Show, Grace said it was really special to be back with everyone.

"It was like going to a high school reunion and then going back to school [being on set]. We keep in touch, but rarely are we all in the one place, even to have the people that played by parents there [was special]," he said on Live with Kelly and Ryan

It was later revealed she had been dealing with personal losses and took to drinking to cope.

In August 2010, Kelly was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. In 2012, Kelly was arrested on a felony charge of corporal injury upon a spouse and was released on $50,000 bail.

Sadly, days after checking into a rehab facility in California, Kelly died in her sleep at the facility on August 15, 2013, aged 43. The Los Angeles Department of Coroner concluded that her death was due to an accidental unspecified oral "multiple drug intoxication".

Laura Prepon

Laura Prepon's breakout role was as Donna Pinciotti in That '70s Show, which she remained on for the entire run of the show.

While she's had quite a few movie and TV roles since the sitcom ended, including starring opposite Emily Blunt in the 2016 movie The Girl on the Train, these days Prepon is best known for playing Alex Vause in the hit Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is The New Black.

Prepon and Foster married in June 2018 and currently live in New York.

In August 2021, Prepon, who had previously been vocal about being a member of the Church of Scientology, shared that she had left the church five years prior and now finds solace in meditation.

"I'm no longer practising Scientology. I've always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I've prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I haven't practised Scientology in close to five years and it's no longer part of my life," she confirmed.

"If motherhood has taught me anything so far, it's that something can work out for a period of time and then you move on and evolve from that," she told People

"As a new mum, I was riddled with anxiety that I had never experienced before. My friends who were mothers with older kids said, 'Laura, this is a phase, you'll move on and then it will be something different.' And that has transcended into other parts of my life. We're all evolving."

Ashton Kutcher

Kutcher went on to become Hollywood's king of rom-coms, starring in hit flicks such as What Happens in Vegas, No Strings Attached, and Just Married. On a more serious acting note, he played Apple's Steve Jobs in the biopic Jobs in 2013.

In more recent years, he's starred in the short-lived Netflix series The Ranch and Reese Witherspoon rom-com, Your Place or Mine.

After being married to actress Demi Moore for just over six years, Kutcher announced his divorce from the actress in November 2011. Then, in a twist of fate that delighted fans of That '70s Show, he married his former sitcom co-star Mila Kunis in July 2015. They have two children together, Wyatt Isabelle and Dimitri Portwood.

In 2021, the couple kicked off 'showergate', a bizarre trend where it emerged celebrities were not bathing daily, when they told Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert they didn't wash their kids every day.

"Here's the thing: If you can see the dirt on 'em, clean 'em. Otherwise, there's no point," Kutcher said.

Recently, Kutcher opened up about his challenges with a rare autoimmune disorder, which at one point left him unable to see, hear or walk.

"You don't really appreciate it [your health] until it's gone," Kutcher shared. "Until you go, 'I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to see again, I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to hear again, I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to walk again.' I'm lucky to be alive."

Mila Kunis

She received critical acclaim for her performance in the psychological thriller Black Swan in 2010 and has since led a number of big box office comedies including Friends with Benefits and the two Bad Moms films. And Netflix's Luckiest Girl Alive also received a strong response from viewers.

She is, of course, married to her That '70s Show co-star Ashton Kutcher. Reflecting on how their relationship developed, Kunis said that it wasn't until years after the show that they found a spark.

"I say this not as a joke, but [he] literally did my chemistry homework. I thought he was fine, he was a nice guy, we worked together and sometimes he'd drop me off at home," Kunis told NBC's Sunday Sitdown With Willie Geist in 2018.

"It wasn't until years later at an awards show I saw him again. He just turned around and it was literally like if we were in a movie, the music would've started playing and the violins would've gone. I think for the first time ever he took my breath away. I was like f**k, he's good-looking."

Debra Jo Rupp

Just prior to That '70s Show, Debra Jo Rupp was most well known for her recurring role on Friends as Alice Knight-Buffay, Phoebe's brother's wife, the storyline focusing on their major age gap.

Rupp featured in That '70s Show throughout the entirety of the TV series, saying: "I just cried for a month when we ended '70s Show."

Following from the hit show, Rupp steered away from TV and film, and went towards the stage instead, starring in a number of successful plays. She did return to TV a bit recently, working on This Is Us and The Ranch – which stars Ashton Kutcher.

Reflecting on her new recurrent role in That '90s Show, Rupp said it's been surreal to be back on-set, and to also reunite with the original cast.

"It was very emotional for me, I cried. They didn't come all at one time. It was eight years, and these kids grew up on the set. And I'm so incredibly proud of them. I'm just so proud of them and – they have great careers, but the kinds of people they turned out to be," she told The Wrap.

As for Rupp's on-screen husband, Kurtwood Smith (aka Red Forman), he has been quieter in terms of a career in the spotlight.

He has continued with TV work, having several guest-starring roles, including his time on 24, Resurrection and Agent Carter. Prior to That '70s Show, he was most well-known for RoboCop and Rambo III.

When he received the call asking if he was keen on being a part of the That '90s Show, he said "I was on board right away".

"I knew it was going to be done the right way because we had the people with the right pedigree there. Two of the creators of the show, Bonnie and Terry Turner were back on board, and Greg Mettler, who was a writer on the show, was going to be our new showrunner. Everyone's been so excited about the show for us, and we think that's terrific," he said to Coming Soon.

Wilmer Valderrama

He has had recurring roles on TV shows like Grey's Anatomy as well as The Ranch and starred on NCIS as Nick Torres.

He has had high-profile relationships with actress Lindsay Lohan, Demi Lovato, Mandy Moore and Ashley Simpson and is now engaged to model Amanda Pacheco. In February 2021, he and Pacheco welcomed their first child, daughter Nakano Oceana Valderrama.

Danny Masterson

After the show came to an end, Masterson starred in several smallish movies and made guest appearances on television shows including Punk'd and MADtv. From 2016 through to 2018 he starred on and acted as executive producer for The Ranch alongside Ashton Kutcher.

He married Bijou Phillips in October 2011 and together they share a daughter, Fianna Francis Masterson, who was born on February 14, 2014.

In March 2017, four women made sexual assault and rape allegations against Masterson. The allegations prompted a Los Angeles Police Department investigation to take place.

Masterson denied the allegations. In response to the accusations, Netflix fired Masterson from The Ranch on December 5, 2017. A fifth woman came forward with rape allegations in that month.

In August 2019, four women filed a lawsuit against Masterson and the Church of Scientology for stalking and harassment, stemming from their rape allegations.

He was charged with three counts of rape after a three-year investigation in 2020 and on January 21, 2021 pleaded not guilty. In October 2022, the trial began. In November 2022, the jury was unable to come to a unanimous vote on the charges Masterson faced causing the judge to declare it a mistrial.

On September 8, 2023, Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping two women in 2003. He was sentenced to 15 years for each count, which he will serve consecutively.

“One way or another you will have to come to terms with your prior actions, and their consequences,” Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedoe told Masterson.

This followed a trial in May 2023 where he was found guilty of raping victims Jen B and N Trout in the Hollywood-area 20 years ago.

While the jury found Masterson guilty of two counts of rape, they could not reach a unanimous verdict on a third count alleging Masterson had assaulted his ex-girlfriend Christina Bixler.

Masterson is expected to appeal the verdict.
