Here in Australia, we’re constantly reminded about how lucky we are to be living in a country with as many advantages as ours. We all have worries and things that keep us up at night, but for the most part, access to basic life necessities such as safe water, shelter and food aren’t on that list.
Sometimes, it takes one conversation for it all to really sink in — for my fellow Thankyou co-founders and I, this was learning that while 900 million people don’t have access to safe water, Australians alone spend $600 million on the bottled water industry each year! We were all in either our late teens or early twenties at the time — just a group of friends at university — and these facts really hit us. We were determined to do something about it. That’s when we came up with our big idea. We would begin selling bottled water with all proceeds funding safe water projects in the world’s poorest nations — places like Myanmar, Cambodia and Kenya — where a lack of clean drinking water has a devastating effect on the health of entire communities.
So we launched Thankyou Water with a goal to funnel the profits of the multi-million dollar bottled water industry into providing life-changing water solutions to those who need it most. We had no business experience and no money, but loads of passion and determination.

Recently I discovered the story of 'thankyou' and I was both impressed and inspired. I just want to say that beyond assisting others overseas to access clean water and better hygiene, every time I roll over in bed, open my eyes and see 'thankyou' water by my bedside, or wash my hands and read 'thankyou' on my hand wash, it honestly touches my heart, and a warm feeling rises within me, knowing that I am helping. This isn't something to be sneezed at. These kind of feelings assist human beings in so many ways including our physical health. With two small children my focus is presently very much within the four walls of my house, and when I have time, within my neighbourhood and community. This will hopefully grow wider as they grow older... but for now, THANK YOU Justine and the thankyou group, for your enthusiasm and commitment, and for allowing those of us who can't do the big stuff right now to feel like we're underneath you, behind you, supporting you, and helping out to achieve the big stuff that is so important in our world. And mostly for teaching our little ones, through your products, that there is a world of people out there who need a helping hand, and who can benefit from the little things we do each day. Hi Adrienne, thanks so much for your encouragement. We honestly would not be where we are today without people like yourself getting behind us. I'm so touched to hear about how you are raising your two little ones to grow up thinking of others who less fortunate than they are. This is something I am also so passionate about! Thanks again for your support! :)
