Aussie tennis star Thanasi Kokkinakis is the talk of the town (or more accurately, the world) after his victory against world No.11 Stefanos Tsitsipas at the US Open 2024.

Winning 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, Kokkinakis brought home the win in a 4-hour match. 

Having had a tumultuous battle with injuries throughout his career, this US Open victory marks Kokkinakis’ biggest grand slam success yet, making Australians (this one included) incredibly proud. 

"I've always known (and) I've shown it before that I'm capable of beating good top 10 players. It's just trying to be consistent with it, and, yeah, trying to string them together," he said following the match.

Kokkinakis is in fact in a relationship: meet Hannah Dal Sasso, the woman who has captured the heart of the Aussie heartthrob.

Who is Hannah Dal Sasso? She is a Melbourne-based entrepreneur and social media influencer who owns her own business, Styled By Mim which rents out designer clothing. As an online content creator, Dal Sasso has worked with major fashion brands and is known for always turning a look on her Instagram. 

The couple first hard launched their relationship in March 2023, after appearing together at the Glamour on the Grid event ahead of the F1 Australia Grand Prix. 

Hannah also posted an adorable snap of the two at the sporting event over the weekend, confirming the relationship. How cute are they?

How long has Thanasi Kokkinakis been playing tennis?

Despite his more recent success, Kokkinakis has actually been playing tennis for a long time. According to the ATP Tour, Kokkinakis has been playing tennis with his brother since the age of 7.

With so many ups and downs during his career, it has been a long and difficult journey to the top for Kokkinakis. 

Just earlier this year, he withdrew from Wimbledon because of his ongoing knee injury after slipping during the match. 2 years prior, Kokkinakis had injured the same knee.

Kokkinakis is indeed a bilingual man. While he was born in Adelaide, Kokkinakis’ parents are Greek immigrants from Tryfon and Tripoli. As a result, he holds Greek citizenship and also speaks Greek.

So, what do we know about Thanasi Kokkinakis' family? 

From what we can tell, he seems to have a close family unit comprising his parents and two siblings. His sister's name is Christina and his brother, Pan. 

In true, proud brother fashion, in April 2023, Kokkinakis shared the birth of his sister's baby girl to his Instagram.

His family are sure to be cheering him on as he takes on his next match at the US Open.
