1. Marilyn Monroe photos show the star before the star
David Wills is the author/editor of the new book Marilyn Monroe: Metamorphosis and has spoken about whittling down the thousands of photos of the American icon for the new book. He said she posed for everything and everyone. Which explains why there are always new photos turning up. Like these.

3. Asylum seeker mental health claims creating ‘stress’ on health staff
A confidential letter from International Health and Medical Services (IHMS) which is contracted to run medical services in Australian detention centres has implored the Department of Immigration to fund a pool of psychiatrists to work in detention centres because the need was now ‘critical’. The SMH reported:
The letter cites the rising number of detainees prescribed psychotropic medication for extended periods; the ”ever-increasing number of clients with a T&T [trauma and torture] history with significant symptomatology”; and ”an ever-increasing number of clients … in detention for more than 18 months”.
”The mental health team requires the clinical input and leadership of the psychiatrist to manage people with complex mental health problems which become more apparent the longer clients spend in detention,” reads the letter.

The anorexia in young children is very sad. I developed an eating disorder at 12ish, and I thought that was young. What is even sadder is that many clinics don't accept patients under 16 or 18 (at least in Australia) so there are limited treatment options for young people.
In a loose link to the trolling thing here - I would like to comment on something that has been on my mind lately. I really, really dislike it when males or females use the term Bitch. I find it one of the most highly offensive words - right up there with the C word.
We do not refer to a male in specifically gendered derogatory way if they do something to displease us. I hate it so much when males refer to women offhand in that way and it is somehow worse when female denigrate themselves by referring to themselves or other women as one.
Men and women both call men "pricks". This term in generally associated with men (I can't recall it being directed at a woman, but I may be wrong).
I'm not pooping on your opinion, mind you. Just saying there's a male-centric word out there for men who displease us.
Yep ok - fair point - do you think that word has the same depth of disdain attached to it?
Like dog, dick, dickhead, prick, asshole, jerk, sleeze, creep, pig, douchebag?
God, no. Bitch has connotations of cattiness, sneakiness, being nasty for no reason other than because one can, and that you're a woman.
Prick has connotations of just being a jerk, albeit a big, horrible jerk.
