There are two disasters unfolding in different corners of the country right now.
Far-north Queensland is bracing itself against an ongoing deluge that’s caused flash-flooding in Townsville , washing through dozens of homes and forcing the Premier to declare the city a disaster zone. The army has been called in to help with evacuations and sandbagging, as residents brace for yet more downpours in this once-in-a-century weather event.
Meanwhile, 599 personnel are battling to control more than 70 bushfires that are raging across Tasmania. The blazes have so far razed more than 187,000 hectares throughout the south-west, Central Plateau and Huon Valley, destroying several homes and injuring three firefighters. The disaster began a month ago, and the scale of the damage has been described as “unprecedented”.
These are some of the most powerful images to emerge from the crises.

Victoria too. We can thank climate change.
I can’t wait to see the politicians say we don’t have climate change issues now....
Yes, because we just never had floods or fires this time of year before. Rolls eyes.
🙄
Didn’t dispute that but clearly given everything going on in the world there’s a problem. Your choice if you want to ignore it as our politicians do.
