An urban nightmare: Family parked in for an entire week.

Thanks to a prevalent population of d***head drivers, most of us know the immense frustration and blood-boiling anger of being parked in – even if it’s just for an hour or so.

Just multiply that by 168 and you’ll have a bit of an idea of the nightmare that one Sydney family is going through.

The Gulabovskis of St Peters have been unable to get into their own driveway for seven (SEVEN!) days thanks to one thoughtless motorist who decided to park directly across it.

Speaking to The Inner West Courier, yesterday, Katrina Gulabovski said the whole thing has turned into a classic display of bureaucratic “buck passing”, as neither the council nor the police have been particularly eager to help.

“It’s ridiculous and frustrating,” she told the paper. “I’m a single mum with three kids and an elderly mother who needs regular medical visits.”

With three cars (Mrs Gulabovski has two adult children), the family have been forced to go on a daily hunt for unlimited street parking – a rare phenomenon in their local area.

The offending Holden driver, meanwhile, is nowhere to be found. Police told the paper that, after notifying the council, they issued a parking fine and attempted to contact the owner, but to no avail.

Mrs Gulabovski has a theory that the motorist might have fled by air.  “People catching planes park around here all the time to save money on parking at the airport,” she said.

The car was eventually slapped with a council notice threatening towing on Tuesday, and yesterday morning a contracted tow-truck driver arrived to move the car.

But the nightmare continued – a flat tyre meant the pesky Astra had to stay put and wait for another truck.

Last reports indicate it was still sitting smugly across the Gulabovskis driveway.
