Superhero window-cleaners make sick kids (and you) happy

Today’s Good News post is brought to you by Vaalia.

For the next four weeks we’ll be bringing you a little dose of good news. Sometimes when we turn on the TV, radio or open a newspaper, it feels like everything in the world is just sad and wrong. But there are pockets of delight and happiness, which we’ll be uncovering and bringing to you.

Captain America has a part-time job washing windows at a children’s hospital. Batman’s really, really good with a squeedgie. As for Spiderman? Please, he scales buildings all day every day, the least he could do is clean the windows on his way.

At the Lurie Hospital in Chicago, several truly wonderful human beings dressed up as superheroes and washed the panes in front of the children’s ward. Three window-cleaners slipped into Captain America, Spiderman, and Batman costumes.

It’s becoming a tradition all around America, and we’ve heard of it happening so many beautiful times, but we’ve never actually seen the footage of it. So here it is, to brighten your day and warm your heart.

The hospital’s neuro-oncologist Dr. Stewart Goldman says he has no scientific research to back it up, but he reckons “Superhero Day” helps the young patients feel better. “There is power in laughter and joy and excitement,” Goldman said.
