The Subaru ad encouraging us to change the way we look at the world.

Subaru’s new ad isn’t your typical advertisement for a car.

It starts with a young girl, dressed in her school uniform, sitting at the base of the stairs in her home while she ties her shoelaces.

But for her, this isn’t your typical morning.

It’s the first time she’s tied her shoelaces by herself.

In the hustle and bustle of mum getting three kids out the door, the moment appears to be missed. There’s work to get to. A school day to start. But just as Bella goes to enter the school gates, her mum calls her name.

‘Hey!’ she says.

‘I’m proud of you. Your laces.’

Because it’s those little moments, we all know, that are what bring families together.

‘Every moment is a chance to do,’ reads the on-screen text.

Subaru’s new campaign acknowledges that in our fast-paced world, it can often feel like we’re missing the little things. The blossoming flowers in our neighbour’s garden. The cloud that, when you squint, looks a bit like an elephant. The cuddle between a grandparent and their grandchild. The sound of the ocean.

So they want to see what happens if we pause, and take a look around us. What do we see? What can we learn?

Using the hashtag #OneLittleMoment, Australians are joining in to share the little moments they’re not taking for granted. The ones they’re vowing to recognise as they’re happening.

And you can too.

Because often, the most special moments are hiding in plain sight.
