Today is the day that Instagram switches to its new personalised algorithm and it’s going to change your entire life what your feed looks like.
Well, according to the most esteemed members of Instagram your entire life is changing today.
Yep, we think it’s happening today. Maybe it’s happening today. Maaaaayyyybeeeee.
Ok, maybe not.
Look – the truth is nobody really knows what on earth is going on.
If you’re a little late to the party, Instagram has decided to follow in the footsteps of Facebook and Twitter.
The app will move away from the chronological organisation of posts and instead hero photos based on a user’s friends, interests and other strictly-very-top-secret data.
It’s all very high tech and fancy and the people seem to hate it.
Remember when people FREAKED OUT about Facebook changing? It’s kinda like that…
In a blogpost explaining the new algorithm, the company said, “The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post.”
They continued, “If your favorite musician shares a video from last night’s concert, it will be waiting for you when you wake up, no matter how many accounts you follow or what time zone you live in.”
Gotcha, Instagram.
But while some are hyperventilating and say the change is imminent, the holy Insta creators say the change will not occur all-at-once, but gradually over a few months instead.

"Turn on notifications!" Really? Geez some people are demanding.
I was originally just annoyed at all the people posting "turn on notifications!" until I realised if this change did happen, it would be a big blow for the small business owners who rely on social media heavily.
If the changes did happen, I wouldn't turn on notifications. Who wants their phone blowing up constantly with notifications?!
