Mamamia’s What’s In Her Bag series asks Aussie women to give us a look at their everyday beauty routines. Kind of like a sex diary but with beauty. So… not like a sex diary at all. We discover what women are putting on their faces, how much of their hard-earned cash goes towards beauty, and what works for their busy lives. There’s no right or wrong, just real beauty from real women. This week, a 25-year-old ICU nurse shows us what’s in her bag.
Name: Gabriella.
Age: 25.
Job: ICU nurse.
Skin Type: Dry.
Biggest skin concern: Dryness and hormonal chin breakouts.
Side note – we asked a makeup artist to teach us how to contour in under a minute. Check it out below, post continues after video.
AM skincare routine.
My routine is very simple in the mornings as I’m a nurse who works 12-hour days in an Intensive Care Unit, so quick and easy is the name of the game. I cleanse with the Avene cleanser, add a spritz of Mario Badescu Aloe and Cucumber Hydrating Spray and finish with a QV day cream with SPF. Done.

I’m 73 and have a couple of ‘crow’s feet’ around my eyes. My cheeks, upper lip and forehead are wrinkle free. I started my skincare routine at 16 because I have very dry skin. For most of those years I used the old Oil of Ulan until that went off the market. I then switched to Avon. However, for probably eight or nine years now, I’ve exclusively used ALDI Lacura products for mature skin. They’re in gold topped jars. I buy eye gel, night cream and the Renew Q10 Intensive Serum. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. I remember reading the results of a study done in Europe some time ago into night creams. All the top brands were tested and equal top place went to the ALDI product and one bearing the Boots Chemist brand.
