This evening, Simon Gittany’s current girlfriend — Rachelle Lousie — appeared for the second time on Channel 7’s Sunday Night program for an exclusive paid interview.
It’s the first time Rachelle has spoken to the media since Gittany was sentenced last week to 26 years in prison — with a non-parole period of 18 years.
Last year Simon Gittany was convicted of murdering his fiancée Lisa Harnum by throwing her off the balcony of their 15th floor Sydney apartment in a “fit of rage” and Louise has been steadfast in her support ever since. Rachelle called him “an honest person” in her extraordinary first Sunday Night interview.

In this evening’s Sunday Night program, Channel 7 filmed the very moment when Louise found out the verdict for Gittany’s sentencing. Her response: “Told you it’d be over 25 [years in prison]. I knew it.”
Before the sentencing, Rachelle Louise explained that she had felt too much anger already, to feel anything more. “I feel… just… nothing,” Louise said. She also explained that she knew Gittany would be upset that she wasn’t in court on the day of his sentencing because he ‘always looks around to make sure I’m there’.
“I know he’ll be upset I wasn’t there… I supported him every single day I went, today was just for me,” Louise told Channel 7. Rachelle Louise has supported Gittany up until this point – and says she will continue to do in the future.
Louise also confirmed that it is her ultimate desire to marry and raise a family with Gittany. “Simon would be the best father ever, he really would be,” she told a reporter. “When he got convicted he turned to me and said: `I want you to go and get married and have kids…’ and I do want to start a family of my own someday, I mean, I’m not going to wait that long,” she continued.
When asked outright how long she would wait for Gittany, who is serving a sentence with 18 years non parole, Louise replied “Right now, I said he’s got five years. I still want to be optimistic. I truly do believe he has been wrongfully convicted and once we appeal…that he will be acquitted.”

Why did Channel 7 paying 150k to this person? I feel for Lisa's family who see this woman is profiting on their loved ones murder. These monies should perhaps go to the victims family, women and children affected by violence, or charity. Sets a good precedent for future criminals partners to produce drama for the media in order to get a big pay cheque at the end of a trial. Sad society we live in sometimes...
I thought we had laws that people were not allowed to profit from serious crime!
What indictable offence did she commit? There are Australian laws which prohibit someone from profiting from their own crime, but not selling their side of the story regarding someone else's offending.
