#SignsYoSonIsGay starts trending on twitter. Then the internet does something wonderful.

Sometimes, the internet shows us the worst side of human nature; cruelty, sniping, bitching and all covered in a comfortable cloak of anonymity… And sometimes, just sometimes, the internet reveals how wonderful people can be.

Yesterday was one of those times.

When #SignsYoSonIsGay started trending on twitter — populated by mostly homophobic slurs and derogatory stereotypes directed at gay people — Twitter users fought back.

Soon, the hashtag had been taken over by the good guys, and was filled with tweets where people shared stories about how amazing – and normal – #TheirOwnGaySons are.
