It wasn’t scary. It felt “comforting”, 27-year-old Amethyst Realm said, referring to the moment she first sensed a ghost in the home she shared with her fiancé in the UK 11 years ago.
The male supernatural presence was strongest in the spare bedroom and, even when she felt him rush up behind her, she wasn’t afraid. Instead, she was interested in taking things further.
“My fiancé was working away a lot, he was going away maybe one or two weeks at a time,” Realm told the UK morning show This Morning.
The spiritual guidance counsellor made a plan. One night, she dressed in sexy lingerie and awaited her ghost in the spare bedroom.
She waited and waited and thought nothing might happen, after all. And then, as she was beginning to fall asleep, he came to her and the pair – ghost and woman – had sex.
“You can feel it. It’s difficult to explain. Like a weight but also weightless,” she said. “There is like a physical breath and stroking. And the energy, the energy has a lot to do with it.”
The affair continued and, eventually her fiancé caught them.
“He came home from work a day early. Apparently he says he saw the shape of a man through the spare room window,” Realm said, adding she was annoyed the ghost didn’t show her his true form, remaining instead a ‘spirit’ or a feeling.
That was the end of her relationship with her fiancé and, once he left, she and the ghost continued having sex. Moving from the spare room, to all around the house. “So long as we were inside,” she said.
Realm isn’t the only one. There are reports from other women, too, who’ve had sex with with ghosts. Sometimes even carrying on relationships.
“Through history, there have been people who claimed to have consensual sexual intercourse with human spirits,” Jason Hawes, founder of the Atlantic Paranormal Society and cast member of SyFy’s series Ghost Hunters told Broadly.
Sian Jamesom in the UK, for example, told The Sun about an encounter with a ghost named Robert who lived more than 100 years ago. He came to her in a remote Welsh cottage. She had recently broken up with her boyfriend and Robert helped her through it.

These women are delusional. It is possible to have dreams that feel real, especially in certain circumstances. For instance, my husband has had dreams about having sex and actually asked me in the morning if we did (we didn't) because it felt real.
When my husband has been away, I have dreamt he was there kissing me or touching me and yes, it felt real - physically real - and I woke up feeling aroused.
I think these women are very open to suggestion, perhaps a bit lonely, and they are basically giving themselves these experiences. It's very telling that SHE initiated it - "I was interested in taking things further". There was no ghost. It was her own overactive imagination.
