'Secret Obsession' is the eerie Netflix movie everyone will be watching this weekend.

Now that we’re in peak, wintry binge-watching season, Netflix is really pulling out the big guns when it comes to offering up loads of new movies and TV shows.

Along with a slew of must-watch shows, including new seasons of Stranger Things, Queer Eye and the final season of Orange Is The New Black, the streaming giant are also releasing a bunch of new movies this month.

The latest movie to be dropped? Secret Obsession.

While the new film’s promotional images may lead you to believe that Secret Obsession is just another rom-com, the movie actually takes a slightly more… weird turn.

In fact, rather than a standard love story, Secret Obsession has been described as the anti rom-com – and it’s not hard to see why.

Watch the official trailer for Netflix’s Secret Obsession below. Post continues after video.

The movie, which premieres on Netflix on July 19, follows former Suite Life of Zack & Cody star Brenda Song, who plays newlywed Jennifer.

Jennifer is brutally attacked late one night at a dark rest stop. But when she wakes up, she can’t remember anything from her past – or the details of the vicious attack.

Thankfully, Jennifer’s husband Russell (Mike Vogel) takes her to their secluded mountain estate for rest and recovery.

But before long, things get a little… weird.

As seen in the trailer, it soon turns out that Jennifer’s husband isn’t exactly who Jennifer thinks he is.

Here's what Netflix's official synopsis says:

"As Russell reintroduces Jennifer to their secluded mountain estate, Detective Page (Dennis Haysbert) pursues Jennifer’s assailant – his own daughter went missing and was never found.

"The same fate now awaits Jennifer, unless someone realises that her loving caretaker is actually her captor.”

Erm, yikes.

The movie has also been described as a mix of popular Netflix series YOU and 2012 movie The Vow.

Speaking to Refinery 29, actress Brenda Song described the Secret Obsession as "thrilling".

"The audience actually finds out the twist before my character does. I think the thrilling part of the movie is trying to help Jennifer catch up," she said.

"I think people (myself included) just love scaring themselves," she added.

"Obviously having a stalker is no joking matter, but stalker movies are just so fascinating and terrifying."

Secret Obsession will begin streaming on Netflix on July 19.

I watched this at 10pm on a Friday Night but it may as well have been shown on Channel 7 at midday. Netflix dropped the ball with this one.
