'What the f*** was that ending?' 6 thoughts I had while watching Sex/Life season two.

I like to think I have pretty good taste in TV shows and movies. Most of the time.

But when Netflix's Sex/Life returned for its second season this month, I was ready.

Like many people, I devoured the first season of the drama series back in June 2021. We were in the middle of the pandemic and someone mentioned there would be a... willy.

I loved it (the show!).

It's terrible but also so good. I can't stand Billie but I'm also rooting for her. I don't like Brad but I also do. A lot.

Watch the trailer for Sex/Life season two here. Post continues after video.

Ever since, I've been waiting for the series to return and answer my questions. But now having watched season two, I've just been left with more.

Here's every thought and question I had while watching Sex/Life season two.

1. THAT OPENING SCENE.

Season one of Sex/Life ended on the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, with Billie (Sarah Shahi) walking into Brad's (Adam Demos') apartment and surrendering herself to him.

That same scene opens the second season, but it doesn't go in the direction we expected it to.

Instead of hooking up, Brad tells Billie he's in a new, 'serious relationship' with a model called Gigi. And she's pregnant.

Oh c'moooon.

Of course we couldn't get the fairytale ending from the get-go (we wouldn't have a season) but this made my head explode.

THAT WAS NOT WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING ALMOST TWO YEARS FOR.

2. Why do we never see... Brad?

What was your favourite storyline from season one?

If you don't say Brad and Billie, you're lying. The Australian record producer and the academic's back-and-forth made the first season. It was the first season.

Too bad Brad's barely in the second one.

After telling Billie he's in a new relationship and is about to become a dad, much of Brad's storyline is about him trying to move on.

Similarly, Billie tries to do the same and meets restaurant owner, Majid.

And that's FINE.

But there could've been more than six episodes and more Brad and Billie. Not the ending we got (more on that later).

3. What happened to good guy Cooper?

Cooper, Cooper, Cooper.

In season one, you were so wholesome. But my goodness, Billie broke you.

In short: Cooper (played by Mike Vogel) did a full 180 in season two.

There's infidelity, issues at work, drugs, and drinking when driving.

Although it makes sense why he spirals - his wife emotionally cheated on him, fantasised about sleeping with her ex etc, etc - it's pretty sad to watch.

My face while watching Cooper's storyline unfold:

4. That giant penis was just not... necessary.

You remember that scene from season one.

Cooper follows Brad to the gym. Both men shower after their workout. Brad turns around and we see a peen.

The scene went viral - people started sending around the time stamp, even filming their reactions for TikTok.

Now, the exact same thing has happened in season two, but this time with Devon (Jonathan Sadowaski).

In episode five, Cooper and his problematic best mate Devon drive their sports cars after drinking and crash. Both were accompanied by sex workers.

At the time of the crash, one of the sex workers was going down on Devon and bit off his penis, causing him to undergo surgery.

Yep, you read that right.

In the process of having it reconstructed, Devon had an extra inch added to his penis and showed it off to Cooper while at the gym, moving it up and down.

Yes, it was large.

Yes, it was unnecessary.

But hey, maybe they've got a quota of one willy per season?

5. What a letdown of an ending.

I powered through season two to get to the ending. Rookie mistake.

Sex/Life season two was a short one - there are only six episodes and everything gets wrapped up in a pretty bow during the final one.

Brad and Billie get married; and when at the altar, she tells him she's pregnant.

In addition to those two finally ending up together, a heartbroken Cooper reunites with his past love. Even Sasha Snow (Margaret Odette) ends up with her forever person.

All. In. One. Episode.

6. Will there be a season three?

Netflix hasn't confirmed whether they will renew Sex/Life for a third season just yet.

And I'm not sure if I want them to.

I came into this season so excited to see what happens next, but it felt rushed, and the happy ending seemed like a cope out.

I could've watched real-life couple Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos on-screen for seasons. It might not be the greatest writing but their chemistry trumps that.

I'm worried this season might cut the chances of that short.
