Scarlett Johansson is 'disappointed' she's the world's highest-grossing actress.

She’s just named as the highest-earning actress in Hollywood history, but Scarlett Johansson isn’t very happy about it.

The Avengers star made the top ten spot on Box Office Mojo‘s list of the highest grossing names in Hollywood.

Scarlett is the only female to grace the list - which is topped by the likes of Harrison Ford, Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman and Tom Hanks.

"It's exciting to be the only woman in the category...It's kind of disappointing, actually, to be the only woman in this category," she said.

"That was a little bit of a surprise to me."

The actress has brought in over $3.3 billion in ticket sales, thanks to her roles in the Avengers franchise, and box office hits like The Jungle Book and Lucy.

The next female on the list, Cameron Diaz, doesn't make an appearance until number 19, with Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock appearing much further up the list.

Johansson has previously spoken about the gender pay gap in Hollywood, telling Cosmopolitan that she was "very proud" to be an actress who was earning as much as her male peers.

"I think every woman has [been underpaid], but unless I’m addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious. It’s part of a larger conversation about feminism in general," she said.
