He's the most popular man on wedding guest lists right now. But he's not going to show up.

Well played, Australian public.

Tony Abbott loves a wedding. Just look how happy he is here.

Now, not EVERYONE would choose to invite Prime Minister Tony Abbott to their wedding.

But with a marriage equality bill on the table in the Australian Parliament, same-sex couples are asking Mr Abbott to save the date for their weddings.

Couples are signing up to invitetony.com to “help make marriage equality a reality by Christmas” by saving a date for their wedding while simultaneously sending an invitation to the PM.

The brilliant campaign is supported by Maurice Blackburn Lawyers and has already seen 105 couples sign up to save the date for their wedding at the time this article was published.

For those who aren’t looking to save their wedding date but still want to support the cause, you are able to join the guest list instead.

So far, 931 guests have signed up.

Despite its popularity, the site is still waiting on one noticeably absent RSVP.

Over to you, Tones.

In related news, non-profit organisation All Out has launched a campaign encouraging Aussies to support marriage equality by sharing photos of their same-sex weddings with the hashtag #dearOz. Those photos will then be sent on to politicians. Here are some images from that clever campaign:

To get involved in the All Out campaign, send a tweet with a wedding photo or selfie to support marriage equality in Australia, using the hashtag #DearOz.
