Sarah Palin's first interview. GULP.

I don’t know what the Bush Doctrine is either. But I’m not running for Vice President. And I’m not very likely to become President if John McCaine wins and then croaks. What’s your excuse, Sarah Palin?

This is S-C-A-R-Y.

I read some commentary recently that the world looks at her ignorance about the world (she only got her passport last year) and freaks out. But Americans don’t care about the world. They’re not voting for the Leader Of The Free world. They are voting for the President of the USA. And most of them know far far less about world events than Sarah Palin. T-E-R-R-I-F-Y-I-N-G.

After the jump, Matt Damon sums it up beautifully…..

It wouldn't be as scary if being President of the USA meant only presiding over the USA. The fact that the USA considers themselves the "World's Police" is people are really voting for.
I think what the most frightening thing here is that a Hollywood Movie Star Hearthrob is more articulate, intelligent and informed that this woman who can barely string a sentance together that actually makes sense. It's very easy to use a lot of big words to make it sound like you know what you are talking about.

As an American living in Australia, I just want to say that I too am terrified at the uncertainty and harrowing possibilities in this election. Please, Mia, please don't sum us up by saying that we don't care what's going on in the world. Remember that 51% of (voting) Americans voted for Bush. That is far from all of us - 49% of the US is a hell of a lot of people. I am hoping that that minority is growing into a majority as Palin and Co make further fools of themselves. I can only hope - and send in my absentee ballot.
Here's hoping we redeem ourselves in the eyes of the global community. In the meantime, the educated people in the rest of the world should stop stereotyping all of us as ignorant hayseeds. Most of us are just doing our best, like anyone else, and praying to any higher power (and I'm not even religious) that Obama's change will really come.
