Sarah Michelle Gellar shares her tips for a happy marriage.

They are one of Hollywood’s cutest – but most private – couples.

But now, Sarah Michelle Gellar has offered some rare insight into what makes her 13-year marriage with fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr tick.

The Buffy star recently opened up about her relationship with People and shared some of her top marriage advice.

  “Take the 10 minutes – put the phone down. Have a cup of coffee together. Walk the dog at the end of the night. Read a story with your kids,” she said. “Make the most of the time that you have. We are all pulled in so many directions, so make sure that, whichever one you are focusing on, you’re present.” The couple met in 1997 while filming I Know What You Did Last Summer, but didn’t start dating until 2000. They married in 2002, and have two children – daughter Charlotte Grace, 6, and son Rocky James, 3.

Gellar, 38, also told People that she planned to spend Valentine’s Day with her family.

“When you have kids, [Valentine’s Day] really just becomes an expression of love…In this busy world, sometimes we forget to tell people [we love them].”

It seems like simple advice – but it’s clearly working for the pair. And we couldn’t be happier for them.
