Samantha Jade proves creative inspiration can come from the most unlikely experience.
The Never Tear Us Apart singer, who was left devastated when her mother Jacqueline Gibbs, 51, passed away in June after a four month battle with an aggressive type of cancer, credits music as her motivation following the devastating loss.
“As a songwriter anything that is close to you gives you inspiration,” she said.
Samantha, 27, has told Daily Mail Australia music is “almost like therapy”.
Her album, which is due to be released in its entirety early next year, is a mix of upbeat tunes as well as some which draw on the more somber moments she has experienced since her mothers diagnosis in February.
“We’ve really kind of touched on some of the sad things,” she said. “Some of the time I want to write about something that makes me feel good and happy so there’s those moments. The record is a combination of a great time and the realness of what you go through.”
Jade also credits spending time with her family as a source of strength for her during her mother illness as well as a comfort for her following her death.
“[They are] the only reason I have got through it and getting through it actually.”
Admitting it has been “really tough”.
