Ryan Reynolds strongly defends his daughter's 'Hollywood' name.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively welcomed their beautiful daughter  into the world just over a year ago.

Ever since then, there has been a lot of talk about her name. At first, there were the rumours. Was her name Violet? Did she even have a name?

And then we found out that Blake and Ryan had named her James.

Many have been outraged by the fact that a girl was given a boy’s name. In a few interviews though, the pair have discussed the reasons why they chose the name.

All in all the message has been “what’s wrong with switching the ‘gender’ of the name?”. Blake herself has often expressed how much she has enjoyed growing up with her own ‘boy’ name.

Thumb wrestling isn’t always fair. Curiously, my hand is the small one.

But in a recent interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the doting father also explained that James was named after his father, who unfortunately passed away last October after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

“My father just passed away, but my daughter’s named after him.” he said.

He also went on to discuss a little bit about bad celebrity baby names, and jokingly suggested that he and his wife were thinking of giving James a name of just silent letters, that would be pronounced as one long breath.

He also revealed that James is currently teething. Cute.
