Russell Brand and his fiancée Laura Gallacher have welcomed their first child after a very private pregnancy.
Brand’s 27-year-old partner gave birth over the weekend, and Daily Mail have confirmed they had a girl named Mabel.
The couple has previously shared intentions to raise their child gender-neutral.
Ahead of the birth, the 41-year-old comedian and actor told Jonathan Ross, “We don’t know the gender. I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, let the child grow up and be whatever the hell it is.”
Although, this is proving to be difficult already, with Laura Gallacher’s sister – a high profile television presenter in the UK – inadvertently revealing the sex in a congratulatory tweet.
The 41-year-old comedian and actor reportedly announced the birth during a stand-up performance on Sunday. A fan told The Mirror “he was conscious of the clock and made sure he was off stage by just approaching 9pm as he ‘needed to get down the f***ing M21 as my girlfriend has just had a baby’.”
Brand recently gushed over the idea of being a dad in an interview with Evening Standard magazine. “I feel lit up by the idea,” he said.
“I’m very excited about becoming a dad and I’m preparing myself. I am just getting ready to be with a new little person and see what it is they want.”
