The new season of Dancing With The Stars has officially kicked off and it’s already made us cry.
On Tuesday’s episode of Dancing With The Stars, the celebrities danced to songs that were ‘memorable moments’ for them. Singer Ricki-Lee Coulter chose to dedicate her performance to her late grandfather, Rocky, who she says was a father figure to her.
Ricki-Lee performed a contemporary dance to One Sweet Day by Boys II Men featuring Mariah Carey, which the 28-year-old says is the song she sang at her pop’s funeral.
Ricki-Lee told the audience she felt she never got a chance to say goodbye to him.
After the performance, the singer explained this song is the one she can’t listen to as it makes her emotional. Her and her dancing partner, Jarryd Payne, had not even rehearsed the dance with the song until the day of the performance.
In an Instagram post earlier that day, Ricki-Lee shared a touching tribute to her grandfather.
"When I was a little girl my pop used to tell me there was nothing I couldn't do if I really put my mind to it and worked hard. Tonight I just want to make him proud. "I know you're shining down on me from heaven…and I know eventually we'll be together…one sweet day". Dance with me tonight pop xxxxxxx #DancingWithTheStars."
