Ricki-Lee Coulter is on the mend after a terrifying eye injury at the hands of a rogue champagne cork.
In an update on her Instagram today, the singer wrote,
Mamamia previously wrote… Ricki Lee Coulter is sporting some “terminator” vibes after a nasty run in with a champagne cork. The 30-year-old singer shared a photo on her Instagram yesterday that shows the nasty injury, but she has assured her fans, all is well and she is on the mend.
“It looks kinda fierce now,” she wrote. “But the past week has been kinda awful! I accidentally copped a champagne cork straight from the bottle right into the eyeball last week.”
Um, ouch!
While Ricki-Lee is feeling much better, and looking forward to some much needed “Netflix & Chill”, the injury could have been much more serious.
“I don’t know all the technical jargon but,” she said. “Basically the trauma from the cork popping right on my eyeball caused a hyphema which is a bleed in the eye and there was also some bruising.”
As scary and as full-on as a ‘hyphema’ sounds, we’re very glad to hear all is “under control.”
Ricki-Lee expressed her gratitiude “to the amazing doctors and nurses who were monitoring it closely & managing the pain.”
She assured her fans she’ll be right as rain in a “week or so”.
