Ricki-Lee will make a full recovery after being hit in the eye with a champagne cork.

Ricki-Lee Coulter is on the mend after a terrifying eye injury at the hands of a rogue champagne cork.

In an update on her Instagram today, the singer wrote,

“Good news from the eye doctor today! My eye is A OK. The bleeding in the eye has stopped and my vision is 20/20! My pupil may never go back down to normal size, because of the trauma… but if that’s all I have to worry about then I got off pretty lucky! I can see… and not everyone is as lucky as me! Very grateful it wasn’t worse and super happy it’s better now! Let it be a lesson to you all… when opening a bottle of champagne, always point it AWAY from your face! X” 

We’re thrilled she’s going to make a full recovery – and we’ll be very, very careful about where we point our champagne bottles from now on.

  Whaddya think of my Terminator eye?! It looks kinda fierce now…but the past week has been kinda awful! I accidentally copped a champagne cork straight from the bottle right into the eyeball last week. A few hospital visits and a whole lotta pain killers later and I’m finally on the mend. I wanted to say a massive thank you to the amazing nurses and doctors who helped me over the past week that I feel terrible I couldn’t look in the eyes and thank at the time – you are truly amazing! ???????????? I don’t know all the technical jargon but basically the trauma from the cork popping right on my eyeball caused a hyphema which is a bleed in the eye and there was also some bruising. But it’s all under control now thanks to the amazing doctors and nurses who were monitoring it closely & managing the pain. I spent a whole day outside today (with sunnies on) which is a nice change after basically sleeping 18 hours a day in a black room for the last few days. Feeling very lucky right because it could have been so much worse! While Ricki-Lee is feeling much better, and looking forward to some much needed “Netflix & Chill”, the injury could have been much more serious.

“I don’t know all the technical jargon but,” she said. “Basically the trauma from the cork popping right on my eyeball caused a hyphema which is a bleed in the eye and there was also some bruising.”

As scary and as full-on as a ‘hyphema’ sounds, we’re very glad to hear all is “under control.”

Ricki-Lee expressed her gratitiude “to the amazing doctors and nurses who were monitoring it closely & managing the pain.”

She assured her fans she’ll be right as rain in a “week or so”.
