Reese Witherspoon's teenage daughter Ava has made her first solo red carpet appearance.

The apple truly has not fallen far from the tree in the Witherspoon household.

Ava Phillippe joined mother Reese Witherspoon at the launch dinner for Chanel’s new perfume, Chanel No.5 L’eau.

The 17-year-old had no trouble turning heads as onlookers reveled in the likeness she shares with her film-famous mother.

Phillippe attended the event in a Chanel outfit that paired a green top with eyelet details to a pair of multi-coloured cuffed shorts.

The far-too-well-dressed-to-be-17-year-old accessorised the look with a pair of bejewelled cuffs and a sequinned bag.

The event marks the first time Phillippe has posed for a red carpet without her mother in reaching distance.

It's a pretty concrete effort - no awkward hands (seriously, where do you put your hands in these photos) or weird smiles.

A photo of the teen was later uploaded Instagram where fans couldn't get over how closely she resembled her mother.

"I thought that was an old picture of your mum," one user said.

"Nice photo Ava, you're sure looking like your mum," another user said.

Even actress Abbie Cornish commented on the image with a short and sweet, "beautiful."

Let us all take a moment to think about how the closest we ever got to wearing Chanel at 17 was by dousing ourselves in squirts of perfume.
