The feud between two English footballer’s wives is snowballing and we can’t look away.

For those new to the drama, allow us to back peddle to the beginning for a minute and fill you in:

Yeseterday, Coleen Rooney (author/TV personality and wife of former England captain Wayne Rooney) posted a lengthy social media post outing former friend and fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy (nightclub promoter and wife of English and Leicester player Jamie Vardy).

She accused her of leaking stories about her to the media.

This story is so big in the UK that when it dropped, Rebekah’s name was being searched more than Brexit. BREXIT WE TELL YOU.

So the tweet and matching Instagram post were sent off into the universe with the preface: "This has been a burden in my life for a few years now and finally I have gotten to the bottom of it".

Coleen goes on to reveal that she's been trying for many years to work out who from her inner circle has been leaking stories about her life from her private Instagram account to The Sun.

She describes her plan, "I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except ONE account. Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into the Sun newspaper. And you know what, they did!"

At the end of the lengthy post she reveals the name: "It's... Rebekah Vardy's account," wrote Coleen.

Cue: frenzy.

Here's an insight into how England is reacting. Post continues after video.

The post, which is on Instagram and Twitter, has been liked hundreds of thousands of times and retweeted tens of thousands of times.

Rebekah quickly responded via social media, denying the claims completely.

"I wish you had called me if you thought this, I never speak to anyone about you," she wrote, before claiming that "various people have had access to my insta and just this week I found I was following people I didn't know.

"I'm not being funny, what would I gain from selling stories on you?"

Rebekah is currently pregnant with her fifth child and writes in the post's caption, "Can't believe I'm even having to write this. I'm pregnant and on holiday".

Coleen and Rebekah are both regulars on the British media circuits.

Rebekah appears as a celebrity guest on chat shows like Loose Women and even came to Australia and took part in the British version of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2017.

The Sun has weighed in on the story, writing, "each of the stories provided to the The Sun was put to Coleen's representatives before publication and on each occasion she declined to comment.

"Like all reputable media organisations we don't comment on sources."

English TV program Victoria Derbyshire broke news of Rebekah's counter plan of attack, the instruction to her lawyers to do a "forensic investigation" on her Instagram.

Rebekah has now spoken to the Daily Mail telling them what went down in the phone call she made to Coleen after the post went viral.

“I said to her ‘Coleen, what on earth have you done?’” Rebekah told the publication. “It was not an easy phone call. She said to me: ‘I’m not pointing the finger’ and I said, ‘You have just annihilated me in public and hung me out to dry. The whole world hates me!’”

Rebekah then went on to say that the phone call wasn't an argument because, "that would be like arguing with a pigeon. You can tell it that you are right and it is wrong, but it’s still going to s*** in your hair.”

Rebekah has vowed to find the "mole" who logged into her Instagram to leak tidbits about Coleen's life. Apparently she's given her password out to loads of people.

"Over the last few years, quite a few people have had access to my Instagram account, including a PR agency and an advertising agency. And, yes, I have given my password out. It is considered a normal thing to do and I never thought very hard about it," she told the Daily Mail.

But she's not actually convinced it did come from her account in the first place and despite demanding proof apparently "it's not been forthcoming".

To add even more spice to this delightful mess, there's also now a third WAG involved.

Model Danielle Lloyd, who used to be married to Tottenham player Jamie O'Hara appeared on This Morning as the scandal played out and gave her two cents on the drama.

She told the show she wasn't shocked by the revelations and had had "run-ins with Becky over similar things".

"She did it. It's a shame because she never thought it'd get out, but it has," she told the show.

BUT THE DRAMA CONTINUES.

Rebekah replied via tweet writing, "Danielle Lloyd making false claims that we had 'similar run-ins' is utter bollocks. she is just fuming that I 'didn't get Jamie recruiting' for her like she asked me to..."

THEN, Danielle returned fire writing, "Do you mean like how The Sun recruited you luv! #secretwag we are entitled to our opinions and we all know it came from your account."

Even Rebekah's dad has weighed in.

"I felt I had to say something because my daughter is so upset by the whole thing. Rebekah has only ever had praise for Colleen — I’m just stunned,” Carlos Miranda told the Daily Mail.

"Why would my daughter want to make money from something like this? She’s completely devastated by the whole thing."

But possibly the best thing that's happened since this feud broke is the trending of the hashtag #WagathaChristie which continues to gather steam a day later.
