Welcome to Mamamia Rogue’s Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the Week.

Here’s how it works: Each week, we pick the biggest Shocker, Hero and Whinger from the last seven days. Shocker is whatever moment or person left our jaws on the floor. Hero is whoever won the week by being flat out amazing.  And whinger? Well, that’s pretty much just someone who has had a major sooky-la-la moment.

Shocker of the week goes to…

Treasurer Joe Hockey, obvs.

When talking to Brisbane ABC radio this week, ol’ Joe claimed that the new proposed fuel excise won’t affect poor people, cos poor folk don’t own no cars anyhow:

The people that actually pay the most are higher income people. Yet, the Labor Party and the Greens are opposing it. They say you’ve got to have wealthier people or middle-income people pay more. Well, changes to the fuel excise does exactly that; the poorest people either don’t have cars or actually don’t drive very far in many cases.

So, poor people must just be figuring out how to drop their poor kids at sub-standard childcare and how get to their low-paying jobs some other way.
