Is this one Australian city behind the biggest celebrity splits of 2016?

Forget everything you thought you knew about celebrity breakups because we’ve just discovered the REAL REASON some of the hottest couples have called it quits in 2016.

It turns out, the fake tan capital of Australia – the Gold Coast – is to blame.

Surely it’s no coincidence that Brangelina, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard AND the short-lived (but much loved) Hiddleswift all visited the sunny shores of the Queensland city before their love hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Therefore, it’s official: visiting the Gold Coast is just like watching that videotape in The Ring and then seven days later you end up dead.

Except it's your relationship that dies.

Hiddleswift were cosying up in the sunny city shortly after going public with their romance, while Tom Hiddleston was in the country filming the latest Thor film.

Johnny Depp was also in town while filming the latest movie of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. His wife, Amber Heard, and their two dogs (Pistol and Boo) were also in two, which, as well all know, led to all sorts of drama.

Brad and Angelina visited The GC way back in the summer of 2013/2014 - staying with former motorcycle champ Mick Doohan - but insiders say that "cracks" in their relationship were already beginning to show.

"There were fights, mainly over the kids,” a source told The Courier Mail.

"There was no discipline with the kids, they were all over the shop, and you could see a few fracture lines (developing) then between Brad and Angelina. She’d have 100 kids but I don’t think Brad wanted a whole orphanage."
