A Hobart radio personality has been suspended after she made an inappropriate remark about the Dreamworld tragedy that claimed four lives this week.
AAP reports 7HOFM presenter Anna Dare made an offensive remark about the incident during a ‘secret sound’ segment.
The presenter was attempting to guess the sound she heard when she said, “It’s not getting stuck in a conveyor belt at a theme park is it? … Too soon?”
Dare hosts the breakfast show with former My Kitchen Rules contestant Mick Newell. According to news.com.au. he was said to have responded to the comment with a sigh.
It was also reported Dare followed up the comment with further indignation.
“That’s what it sounds like to me when I first heard it,” she said.
“That’s the first thing I thought of.”
Chief executive of Grant Broadcasters, Grant Cameron, told the AAP the comment did not reflect the values of the station or its parent company.
“We sincerely apologise to our listeners, the broader community and everyone affected by the Dreamworld tragedy,” Cameron said.
Dare is said to have been removed from the air and will undergo counselling.

So don't listen to them and enjoy watching their ratings plummet.
The only reason I even know about this is because MM reported it.
When you work in (and write comedy for) live radio you'll always risk offending someone.
We did this for over 16yrs and our quiet motto was " You can (and probably will ) offend people - but you must try not to hurt them".
We were always encouraged to be edgy but there's a fine line that must never be crossed.
Dare's comment is the sort of thing people might say privately to shock their mates - but there's little risk of the victim's loved ones hearing it.
I think Dare's problem comes from feeling too "comfy" on air, I choose not to believe that she was being deliberately insensitive to get a questionable laugh.
I'd say she's learned an important lesson.
Give her a break.
