Who's on your ultimate dinner party guest list?

I don’t think Jesus is speaking to me anymore. Not after I’ve dis-invited him so many times for dinner. I have good intentions, I just seem to lose him in the final cut and end up giving his seat to New York Times journalist Nicholas Kristof. Or Oprah. Or that guy in the Old Spice TV commercial (who – it goes without saying – I’d seat next to Ellen DeGeneres).  Okay, that’s ridiculous. I cannot waste a seat on the Old Spice guy.  So … let’s cut to the chase. If you could invite any eight people  – living or dead, famous or not — to dinner who would you invite? I’ll assume my invitation is in the mail …

Here’s mine:

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Nicholas Kristof (author of Half The Sky)

Anne Lamott (author of Bird by Bird, my favourite writing book)

Hugh Jackman & Deborra-Lee Furness (but I’d make them sit at opposite ends of the table)

Oprah

Juliette Wright (the founder of Givit.org.au)

Ellen DeGeneres

His Holiness The Dalai Lama

Now it’s your turn … who would you invite to dinner?
