These illustrations perfectly sum up your early (or mid-)life crisis.

As a kid, it seemed that when you turned 18, all the spoils of adulthood would rain down on you from the heavens. Dream job! Loving relationship! Fulfilling pastimes! Cooking skills! Financial know-how!

Alas, being a grown-up isn’t that straightforward. You don’t always know what you want to do, or meet the person you’ll want to spend the rest of your life with, early on in the piece. In fact, many people spend years figuring out how to “adult”.

This is precisely why we’re currently obsessed with a website and Instagram account called Quarter Life Poetry.

Samantha Jayne, a 25-year-old Los Angeles resident, uses quirky illustrations and poems to document the experience of living with a “quarter-life struggle”. (Post continues after gallery.)

Although Samantha’s posts have a distinctly ’20-something’ vibe, they’ll resonate with anybody who’s ever felt completely lost or unsure about their life, lived a ‘champagne taste on a goon sack budget’ existence, or just struggled with all the tedious parts of being a grownup — regardless of age. In fact, they’re a little too relatable in some instances.
