Please note the word 'promiscuous' is judgemental, sexist, inappropriate and no longer approved of in a therapy settling (although still commonly used) - in fact at all.
It is only ever used to describe women, not men. I understand that a sudden change in sexual behaviour or volume may need to be noted as symptomatic of something larger at play, however use of that adjective is offensive.
My therapist asked me how many people I'd slept with upon meeting and subsequently commented on the number. Years later I disclosed how uncomfortable this had made me feel (especially coming from a man to a woman) and that I'd almost ended the relationship at that point. He apologised and said he no longer ever asks patients that question.
