@cat I disagree, if you consider the workload, education and responsibility, it’s not really that well paid.  I come from a family of school teachers, and it was a a career I considered for myself.  I would have been a maths teacher (and there is always a shortage of maths teachers). However I decided against it. I have a 3 year degree (one year less than teachers).  It didn’t take many years for my salary to eclipse the salary of my then school principal father.  I currently work part time and earn more than any school teacher could, regardless of their work effort or years of experience..
