I’ve been there and it sucks. I felt shame and humiliation for the physical exposure of intimate details of your body and mental process and inviting others to judge you based on it. If someone were to accept a job but wanted to move cities and then did 5 months later - same situation for the employer with a vacancy, but details can remain hidden in their mind.It is so easy for supportive friends to flippantly say to exercise your rights but they don’t have to be the ones to actually live it. Everyone at work was supportive and kind but one friend outside of work was not which still stings). It was rolling 6 month renewable contracts which eased some guilt but not a lot because they always renewed (it was corporate policy due to the client being a government program). Also, my baby was born 3 weeks early (and I had to stop working a week before that) which may have looked like I lied about my due date.
