Child abuse will always be under reported and abused children vulnerable as long as child abuse is a topic that is not allowed in conversations. As long as it is not understood. The huge strides being made on dealing with rape, in all its many forms, has only been possible when it moved from salacious reporting to main steam media content. From the core belief, that the "girl must have done something to DESERVE it".  That belief for many still exists with child abuse. I only hope survivors will get the courage top speak out, even though it may be painful. By remaining silent we have helped enable the next generation of abusers.

Despite many physical things that now plague me from my childhood, if someone could just fix that one thing, my confidence, maybe I could be happy, rather than chasing an illusion through coping mechanisms. That lack of confidence leads to bad jobs, bad career paths, bad relationships, difficulty in parenting (especially when you have no proper role model for it). Broken bones heal, confidence though, .... that one is so very hard to create.
