I find it bizarre noone has considered Collins is very probably neurodivergent ( diagnosed or otherwise) . I am not a neurologist but as someone who is neoro divergent and has worked with people who are neurodivergent for many years ( ASD and ADD) he is showing a Lot of tell tale signs and if this is the case or even suspected by 'the experts' ,their ganging up on him and the obvious distress he is showing as a result is honestly so ethically reprehensible and horrifying to watch! I think this is more complex than saying he's just not that into you, you should leave. It could be that he has dismissive avoidant attachment and emotional intimacy is just really hard for him. This idea that he doesn't see a future with you and wanting to be in the present only could be a distancing strategy. I have an avoidant partner. And I broke up with him because I thought he just wasn't that into me. But we got back together because I think we both realised what we have is real. Maybe do some research into it and see if it resonates? I have found learning about this attachment style an how they show up to the world has helped me a lot to come to mutual understanding. You do have to be super patient though. It has been worth sticking it out for us though and what he initially told me was not a serious relationship is now a really deep and loving thing...
