I am in a similar situation like yours. I had a miscarraige 7 weeks ago when I was only about 4-5 weeks pregnant. I never had a repeat ultrasound as my initial ultrasound showed no gestation sac. My hcg levels were decreasing post miscarraigre and they believed it was a completed miscarraige and I never received a follow up. I kept having spotting and cramping post miscarraige that they associated with low progestrone levels. I took a home pregnancy test 5 weeks after my miscarraige and it was positive. I was continuing to spot and have pain but thought it would pass and was due to low progesterone. Then I woke up in severe pain and went to work waiting for my OB office to open so I could call. I ended up in the ER with an ectopic pregnancy rupture. They believed i miscarried the intrauterine pregnancy and had an ectolic pregnancy at the same time that was too early to see on the initial scan. The OB told me it is rare but as big as my ectopic pregnancy was it could not have been a new pregnancy after miscarraige. My OB does not agree which I am not surprised by because they were not listening to my continued concerns prior to the rupture.
