Actress, singer and philanthropist Priyanka Chopra, rumoured to be a bridesmaid at Meghan Markle’s wedding this month, has finally put an end to the speculation.
In a recent appearance on PeopleNow, Chopra said of her friend and Prince Harry, “It’s not just going to be life-changing for the two of them. It’s life-changing for the world, that needs to see strong women as icons.
“Meghan has the potential to be that,” she continued. “She’s just a really real girl.”
In the same interview, Chopra confirmed she would not be a bridesmaid at the wedding. Customarily, royals steer away from having sizeable bridal parties, instead including younger relatives and the children of friends’ as flower girls and page boys.
It is believed Prince William will be Prince Harry’s best man, and many believe Markle’s long time best friend, Lindsay Roth, will serve as Maid of Honour. The pair have been close friends for over a decade, and Markle was Roth’s Maid of Honour a few years ago.

Chopra also spoke about her friendship with Markle on US talk show Rachael Ray.
“She still texts a lot, which is great,” the 35-year-old said, who has been close friends with Markle for three years.
“She really is a normal girl. She’s such a girl’s girl…
“I’m so happy for everything that’s happened to her because I really feel like she’s one of those female icons that I feel could be a strong idol for girls around the world, because she really cares about the world,” the Quantico actress said.
Also speaking on The Jenny McCarthy show, Chopra expressed her gratitude that she gets to be “part of her big day” at Windsor Castle on May 19.
“She was born to be a global influencer,” she said, “and this has given her the opportunity to do that.”
Chopra explained that Markle has always been interested in the issues facing the world today, and is passionate about addressing them. In fact, that’s one of the main things that bonded the pair, who desperately want to use their power as public figures to contribute to the world in a meaningful way.

I doubt any woman would choose a former Miss World as their maid of honour on a day they want the attention on themselves.
A woman with a (shock! horror!) healthy self-esteem and a shred of self-confidence would.
If she was my good friend, this wouldn't even occur to me. She'd be "my friend Priyanka", not "Miss World" I feel sorry for any bride who would decline to choose a close friend for her bridal party because she was worried about being overshadowed. Which I don't think would happen anyway. I've never been to a wedding where the bride was not the focal point
My best friend is a fashion model. I would be proud to have her as my bridesmaid if I were ever to get married. Your comment says a lot about your self-esteem level.
Nor I. After all isn't that what ugly bridesmaid dresses were invented for? ;)
