Father-to-be Hayden Cross is the first British man to announce his pregnancy.
The 20-year-old, who was born a girl, told The Sun he had already begun his transition when he decided to have a baby with help from a sperm donor.
Putting his transition on hold, the former supermarket worker sought out and found a sperm donor through Facebook and is now 16 weeks pregnant.
The Gloucester man said he would complete his transition once the baby was born, having his breasts and ovaries removed.
“People think you can’t be a man and have a baby, but it isn’t that simple,” Hayden told the newspaper.
“I faced the prospect of not becoming the man I am supposed to be, physically, or a dad.
“So I didn’t feel like I had any choice but to have a baby now then get back to transitioning.”
Hayden said he hoped his story helped others to accept themselves, but was wary of the criticism he may face.
“I am worried about how I will look and what people will think and say about me,” he said.
“There are a lot of small-minded people out there.
“I think people will judge me because I came out as trans and now I am pregnant.
