And by that I mean data about sex. Sex trends, sex toys, sex searches, the whole shabang. Why? Well, it's an incredibly pervy insight into what we're all craving, doing and dreaming about doing in the bedroom. Something that's incredibly hard to come by in a casual conversation.

I mean, have you ever tried to ask your colleague what their favourite sex position is? No, you haven't, because it's definitely a HR breach and wildly inappropriate.

But data? Data asks these freaky questions all the damn time. And then, it tells us all the juicy answers.

The latest is all about sex 'around the world' (read: who's boosing with what in which country), and it has revealed some rather intimate details about what's going on Down Under. Both literally and figuratively. 

So, without further ado, here's Australia's kinks laid bare.

While we may have been living under the false idea that some basic manoeuvre like missionary was the most popular way to root, it turns out Aussies are much more creative than we anticipated.

Because the most popular sex position in Australia is: The Spider. 

For those in the back who are like, 'pardon me, ma'am, but whomst and what is the Spider?' then please allow me to explain.

Spider Sex Position: A quick how-to explanation.

The Spider is a sex position that requires quite a bendy spine and as many legs as possible. Why? Well, you are mimicking the body of a spider. CUTE. 

First the penis owner must sit down on the bed, with legs wide enough apart that the vulva owner can shimmy in towards the penis in a seated position. Once the penis is inside, both partners can lean back and gyrate accordingly. 

It's really hard to find an image to illustrate this without embedding actual porn, but this is kinda the vibe:

You'll need to prop yourself up with your hands, so I don't recommend this after 'arm day' at the gym, and be sure to not lean back too far as this position is primed for snapping a banjo. 

Obviously this position can be translated from a hetero dynamic to a queer one, with penis owners opting to penetrate the anus instead and vulva owners utilising a double-ended dildo (like this) to pull off the Spider with ease.
