The top baby names for boys in Australia have been released, and Oliver has topped the charts for the third year in a row.
Pop Sugar says that 2016 is all about the rise of the “hipster name”, with additions like Harvey, Theodore, Beau and Carter.

Names such as Connor, Cooper and Kai, which dominated 10 years ago, have seen a steep decline.
Interestingly, girls’ names tend to be longer, with many popular boys’ names being monosyllabic.

While some names stand the test of time, there are others that seem to have somewhat disappeared.
50 years ago, the name David was ranked number two, but in 2016 it didn’t make the top 100.
Robert, Kenneth, Gary and Rodney were also popular in 1966, but are now virtually unheard of.
