There’s a certain type of person who openly raves about their love for Dr. Pimple Popper. They open their phone and make their friends cringe with all the juicy gore of an unpopped pimple. Everybody gags and pretends to find the whole experience gross… before going home and watching some more.
Due to the worldwide success of Dr Sandra Lee’s (AKA Dr. Pimple Popper) recent TLC special Dr. Pimple Popper: This is Zit, the American network is this week launching a six-episode reality TV style series, simply named Dr. Pimple Popper.
Rumour has it the new series is going to showcase some of the biggest pimples and cysts the world has ever seen.
“I can tell you that in one episode, I take on the biggest cyst I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” Dr. Lee told Refinery27.
“The pops that we show are big pops, but we also show other conditions within the broader scope of dermatology. The show gives people a chance to be detectives, to watch me tackle the most fascinating skin conditions they’ve never seen before,” she continued.
The dermatologist also shared that pimple popping is more than just a cathartic experience.
“If you start watching, you’ll see that a big pop is like a dance, with a rising anticipation and a cathartic climax and resolution… this show provides a bigger picture storyline, beyond the gratifying release,” she told Refinery27.
The reality series will not only focus on the procedures, as the doctor’s YouTube channel does, but will also allow viewers a glimpse into the lives of the patients, and how they deal with their skin conditions.
Dr. Sandra Lee has captivated the world with her videos for years, posting insider footage on YouTube and Instagram of the best cysts and pimples that patients have come into her California office with.
The 47-year-old doctor has been a practising dermatologist for 15 years and has even founded her own line of skincare. With 2.7 million followers on Instagram, it’s safe to say the people love her.
The show is set to premiere on the 11th July of TLC.
