Planning a wedding can be a stressful experience at the best of times.
But for those who are planning it with the knowledge someone crucial is missing, it can feel impossible.
This was the case for Anna Bozman Thompson as she married long-term boyfriend Travis Thompson mere months after her son, Lake, passed away from acute myeloid leukemia according to Daily Mail.
Anna was so grief-stricken at the prospect of Lake’s absence, she worked with the photographer to edit her deceased son into the pictures.
She posted the result on a Facebook page created before Lake passed away, Prayers for Lake Bozman:
Her caption to the image read:
“I do know that ️Lake has been watching over us especially when we got married. He made sure that it would be a day that none of us would forget. Although I felt his presence that day and I was actually happy, it was almost unbearable to take family pictures without him. I could feel my emotions taking over after the ceremony when it was time to take pictures. I became anxious and almost irritated but I knew these pictures had to be taken. They turned out beautiful and thanks to my amazing photographer she was able to get some special edits done. I needed this picture more than she or anyone could ever know. “
Lake and his family first gained the attention of the media when he was given the opportunity to play with basketball team Atlanta Hawks for a day in April.
Here is a video of Lake’s unforgettable experience. (Post continues after video.)
The photo may not be the way that everyone chooses to deal with grief.
However, for Anna and her family, it’s a beautiful reflection of how Anna and her family continue to movie forward with their lives while honouring the memory of Lake.
