If you’re going to scroll through your phone history on live TV, you might want to double check there’s nothing embarrassing in there first.
Nothing embarrassing like, oh, you know, all the porn sites you’ve bookmarked recently.
A local Chicago news station was reporting on a new student-run website, and to demonstrate how easy it is to access via a Smartphone, the camera zoomed in on the screen while the phone’s owner typed the name into the search bar.
But as that was happening, all the phone’s bookmarked websites immediately dropped down, and one of them was a tad suss:
And just in case you didn’t get that…
Worst. Nightmare.

My history would be a nightmare. I regularly look up articles n research on violence and if you're just skimming the names you might think something is suss. Do a history assignment on white power movements and someone might think you're joining the Klan. Hell if someone looks up misogynist or racist lyrics and wants to know more about it, what song it is then you may think they're a bigot but they could be trying to find out who the artist is to boycott. Search terms without context should be ignored really. Not to mention it's creepy as hell to have others look through your personal searches.
Given that something like 60% or more (guessing here) of the population looks at porn, pornhub isn't really a bad thing. If they had a fetish that was taboo then it'd be pretttyy much an uh-oh moment I guess.
Did the story identify the owner of the phone? Because if it didn't, this is a bit of a non-issue. Viewers might get a bit of a giggle out of it but no one is going to suffer social or career repercussions from this.
If the story identified the owner of the phone, then yes, it could end up being a nightmare.
My phone's search history is odd. There's no porn but I can't say people wouldn't look askance at it, if they saw it! I'm a very curious person and I Google strange things sometimes.
