SO MANY PEARLS: These Derby Day hair looks are your ultimate party season inspiration.

This weekend, Melbourne’s finest celebrities and influencers braved Melbourne’s not-so-fine weather for the first race day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, AAMI Victoria Derby Day.

Among the many very large hats and black and white outfits, we couldn’t help but notice a fun and extremely versatile hair trend from the day on our Instagram feeds.

Pearl headbands and pearl hair accessories.

Model and Keep It Cleaner co-founder Steph Claire Smith wore a pearl headband by Amber Sceats to Saturday’s event, while 2019 Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador Crystal Kimber chose a Rebecca Share Millinery pearl and black tulle headpiece.

Jewellery designer, podcaster and contributing writer Laura Byrne also wore a custom Jeanette Maree headpiece and belt, whereas model and Keep It Cleaner co-founder Laura Henshaw had a few subtle pearls peaking out from underneath her black structured hat by Sylvy Earl.

Pearl clips and hair barrettes were also worn by the likes of model Rebecca Harding and former Masterchef contestant Justine Schofield.

But the trend did pop up earlier in the racing season at Melbourne’s Caulfield Cup, with celebs including model Jessica Gomes and former Love Island Australia contestant Tayla Damir opting for pearl-embellished headwear.
