"My kid will never wear pink" I said. Yeah, right.

Thanks to our brand partner, Colgate®

Remember those bold proclamations you made before you had kids?

Before you have children, you are the perfect parent.

“My kids will never eat junk.”

“They won’t watch TV and if they do, it will be restricted to documentaries and educational programs.”

“I’m also never going to let my little girl do dance classes or be dominated by pink.”

Fast forward five years, and I’m watching my little girl spin around in a pink tulle skirt, dancing wildly to a Katy Perry film clip while eating hot chips.

I have plenty of friends with high expectations. Ones that claim they have so much time on their hands they’ll do a law degree, a crafty side-business or a vegetable garden with which they will home-cook all their own organic meals. Or ones, like Andrew Daddo, who impose a strict ban on the TV. (Except for …..oh……The Bachelor……and maybe some other shows……..)

This week on the podcast for parents: it’s all the things you SAID you would do.

I said I didn't want anyone else getting her pink. Until she's old enough to chose her own wardrobe I'm dressing her, she'll wear what I like. I don't like a lot of pink, the pink I like is what everyone else considers "eye-burningly bright".

I hate pink, especially pastel pink. I was going to avoid putting my daughter in pink. However pink looks really good on her, so I was eating my words within days of her birth!
